Aura Medical

In 2019 the Zimbabwean government legalised the production of cannabis for medicinal purposes, opening up significant business opportunities for investors. Zimbabwe became only the second country in Africa to enact detailed regulations for medicinal cannabis production.

Subsequently, Aura Medical was established as a wholly Zimbabwean-owned company for the production of medicinal cannabis. The Company has in place all of the necessary approvals and licenses to commence production and we have also engaged Echo Pharmaceuticals as our technical partner on this Venture. Echo Pharmaceuticals are a Dutch based company with more than 10 years of experience in advanced cannabis based medicines and products. They are known globally for their industry leading technology and processes in the extraction, purification and formulation of cannabinoid compounds.

With Aura Medical we are currently in the process of investing approximately US$40 million in the implementation of 10 hectares under a state of the art greenhouse facility and a specialised laboratory. Our objective is to export cannabis oil and flowers, together with value-added products such as medicinal products, tinctures, creams and oils. In the production of cannabis the company has also selected the appropriate seed strains that will produce the best yield for the specific climate in Zimbabwe. In addition to job creation, The Company is committed to empowering the local community by providing training in modern agricultural techniques and in the manufacture of stock feeds from stems post-harvest. Plans are also in place to develop a school, clinic and housing for the employees at both operations.

Aura Oil

Aura Oil

Marula Oil is an extraordinarily stable, highly nutritious and extremely lightweight oil extracted from the kernels of the nut found inside the marula fruit. The oil has extensive applications in haircare, skincare and makeup products. The extraction process involves harvesting, pulp removal, kernel extraction from the nut, cold pressing and refining to remove impurities.

Aura Oil was set up as an agro-processing business to produce this Oil from locally grown Marula Fruit, for export to international cosmetic manufacturers. The Company will adopt a best practice and sustainable approach that supports local communities at various stages through employment opportunities, empowering women, providing animal feed and infrastructure development. The Company will also grow 300 hectares of marula trees in collaboration with local communities, whereas the production process aims to produce zero waste at our proposed state-of-the-art facility; with all by-products used either in animal feed or as fertilizers.

At present, Zimbabwe does not have any large scale marula oil manufacturers whereas there are only a handful of producers active within Southern Africa. At the same time, demand for the product globally is increasing singificantly with the increasing demand for organic cosmetics, hair and skin care products.
